Our people

With a team of more than 17,000 colleagues spread across Pune, Chennai, Noida and Mumbai, BGSC India takes immense pride in not only the work delivered by the teams but also the culture across the organisation.

Be More @ Barclays
Our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) is a true reflection of what it is to work for Barclays – an employment experience that provides all colleagues Opportunities to Rise. We do that by creating an ecosystem where our colleagues are More Globally Connected with colleagues and businesses on a global scale, feel More Inspired by the quality of work and peers that they work with, are More Impactful through the work they do that touches millions of customers, all the while being More Valued for the contributions and unique strengths they bring to the table. In short, it allows everyone to Be More @ Barclays.

Where everyone's welcome
Currently we have five Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) network groups in India including Win, Working Families Network, Spectrum, Reach and Embrace. All these networks are aligned to the global D&I strategy and aim to foster an inclusive culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work, feel they have an opportunity to be successful and their talents are nurtured, empowering them to contribute fully to Barclays' vision and goals.

In recognition of our work done in Diversity and Inclusion, Barclays in India has featured in the top 10 list of 'Best Companies for Women in India 2018' by Working Mother Media (WMM) and AVTAR. We have also featured in the top three categories for 'Best D&I Practices in Gender' as part of I Inspire 2019 awards.

Let's engage
In line with the global priority of making Barclays a great place to work we have a robust colleague engagement forum. The key objective is to build a highly motivated and energised workforce. This forum is responsible for shaping and driving the overall engagement agenda in collaboration with the business and functions.

Investing in our communities
Our citizenship programmes focus on deep impact and innovation through a targeted portfolio of high-impact programmes that address employment gap. This is achieved through our Connect with work and Unreasonable Impact programmes.

Connect with work is our overarching employability programme that upskill and connects people facing barriers to employment. Barclays in India partners with many non-government organisations to work towards the employment agenda. The team on a weekly basis organises volunteering sessions for our colleagues to have ample opportunities to participate in various teaching sessions.

Unreasonable Impact is a multi-year partnership between Barclays and Unreasonable Group with an aim to launch the world's first international network of accelerators focused on scaling up entrepreneurial businesses. As a part of the programme our colleagues interact with entrepreneurs and learn about their innovative projects.

Rising up to the innovation challenge
Rise, our global network of co-working spaces, is focussed on partnering with some of the biggest fintech start-ups and experts to create the future of financial services. Rise Mumbai is two years old, and has come to be recognised within India as a catalyst for disruptive innovation in fintech. We have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra, which makes us a key partner in the roll-out of the fintech policy for Maharashtra, the first Indian state to undertake such an initiative.
